GDC Ramnagar in collaboration with MGNCRE organise online workshop | | | narinder thakur Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, July 8: Online workshop on theme "Psycho-social skills of a good helper: Tackling the COVID pandemic" was organised by Govt Degree College Ramnagar in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Department of higher education, Ministry of Education (MGNCRE), Govt. of India. The purpose of organising this workshop was to develop some skills among college students on handling the pandemic situation. To encourage students to come forward and engage themselves in community services and provide the psychosocial support to those in need. The event started with the welcome address by Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Principal, GDC Ramnagar to the resource person Ankita Kumari, consultant MGNCRE. Thereafter, Anita Kumari shared in detail about the psychosocial skills for managing the Covid situation. Some of the important skills are becoming more active listener, showing empathy, and verifying the availability of resources before providing the information to those in need. Various modes of helping through online platform were also discussed. Students also learnt about role of different teams made for this purpose and how they can also contribute and work together as a team for providing the support. The response of the students was overwhelming who actively participated and interacted with the resource person. The programme was hosted by Prof Ritika Mahajan, NSS Programme officer. Prof. Divya Puri, Coordinator Psychological Cell concluded the workshop with the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants.
