Congress delegation meets Delimitation Commission

JAMMU, July 8: A delegation of Congress leaders today called on Delimitation commission here today and submitted a memorandum besides orally putting forth its view point on various aspects of the delimitation. The delegation submitted the Memorandum on behalf of the following leaders Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla (Former Ministers) Vice Presidents PCC, Ravinder Sharma (Ex-MLC) Chief Spokesperson, S. Arvinder Singh Micky (former Dy Chairman LC), Th. Balbir Singh (Ex-MLC) and Ch. Mohd. Akram(Ex-MLA). Later briefing the media persons Ravinder Sharma said that the delegation highlighted the vast diversities of the population and area of Jammu Region and its various parts and their respective urges and aspirations of their identity and representation in the state legislature. The restoration of statehood is paramount for any meaningful delimitation and restoration of democracy, the delegation said. They urged the Commission to adopt a fair and transparent exercise and share the draft proposals in public domain for any meaningful inputs by the political parties and public. They also urged to keep the administrative boundaries in mind, to avoid inconvenience to the people They urged the Commission to recognize and consider the respective demands of diverse sections of society in Jammu like SCs, STs, OBCs, Paharies, Sikh Minority, POJK refugees, KPs etc and give them their rightful due to each one of them. The delegation said that the Commission should ensure justice to the region and sections in terms of assembly and parliamentary seats in accordance with settled norms.
