DPP seeks delimitation on basis of 2021 Census | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 8: The Duggar Pradesh Party (DPP) has demanded delimitation of assembly segments on the basis of fresh Census 2021on the pattern of North Eastern states. A delegation of DPP called on Delimitation Commission and put forth their demands. “The Census Report 2011 narrates the population of Kashmir as 68,88,475 souls and 53,78,534 souls of Jammu province which shows Kashmirs’ population is excess than Jammu by 15,09,941 souls. Where as in 1951 Censes, Kashmirs population was shown 17,12,964 souls and 14,58,548 souls of Jammu province which shows Kashmir’s population was just 2,54,416 souls excess to Jammu, and manipulation in enhancement of population starts in the beginning 1951”, they said. From the day first, on the formation of assembly segments of J&K State by the then Kashmiri political party in power and their sympathizers in national Government at Delhi, Jammu region was discriminated by keeping 6 more seats to Kashmir than Jammu. This difference was later enhanced in 1995 to 9 seats, they said, adding that the holding of delimitation of segments on the manipulated data of population during 2011 censes that too in 2021 is totally illegal, unjustified and could not provide justice to the people of Jammu region victimized politically and developmentally since 1947. When the next censes is due in the ongoing year 2021 in the whole of the country and the central government is not seen serious to hold censes yet due to epidemic situation. It is necessary that delimitation commission should wait for fresh data of censes or recommend Government of India to hold fresh and due censes in 2021 in a special drive in J&K to fulfill the necessary requirement for fair and correct delimitation of seats. The delegation members include Uday Chand, Mohan Singh Slathia, Shiv Dev, Mangal Dass. |
