Road network to boost tourism, strengthen J&K strategically: Raman Suri | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 4: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said that the critics of Union Government are basically colour-blind to development and are unable to see money that’s being pumped into J&K and Ladakh UTs to not only build infrastructure but also provide all-weather connectivity to all the regions. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road, Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari for approving several such projects for J&K and Ladakh. Raman Suri said that once Jammu-Pathankot stretch of the six-lane national highway and Jammu-Poonch highway are completed, road distance between Jammu and Delhi besides Jammu and Pooch will be reduced, giving people ample opportunities to do their business and plan travelling besides opening new tourism vistas and also providing Army all-weather roads to take on the enemy at borders. Unlike the past Governments, the BJP Government, he added, has fixed deadlines for completion of these Projects of National Importance. Raman Suri said that opening of Banihal tunnel for the general public has also reduced distance between Jammu and Srinagar and provided people a safe and all-weather corridor. People, he said, are happy for the safety of their families and are also able to travel and trade easily. He criticized all the previous governments for playing with lives of people and not caring much about constructing and maintaining safe roads in J&K, which now the BJP Government is doing at full swing. Raman Suri also appreciated the Union Transport Minister for planning a hill station, far better than the world-famous Davos in Switzerland, in between the 18-km stretch of Zojila tunnel in Ladakh and Z-Morh tunnel in Jammu & Kashmir. |
