Building sans proper ventilation, other facilities; children suffer | All is not well at Balashram Poonch | | Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report
Poonch, Sep 4: Although the government has launched various schemes to provide quality education to poor and orphan children, the benefits are not reaching to the ground level. The building of Balashram in Poonch where more than 55 students are staying to seek education lacks all basic necessities. “The building is in shambles as there are no fans and there is no proper ventilation. For the past two years the management has been trying to build a kitchen but till date the work hasn’t been completed,” said a source. He said that due to COVID-19 education of children has suffered. “Despite introduction of online classes no facilities have been provided to them to get benefitted due to these classes,” the source added. “Only one slipper is provided to a student for a year,” he added. Superintendent of the Balashram said, “I have apprised the concerned authorities on many occasions but there has been no response.” She said, “I am managing this building by investing a personal amount since long for the betterment of the children.” |
