J&K renders local youth jobless; In Ladakh only permanent residents eligible for govt jobs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 4: Through its “initiatives” the incumbent dispensation of J&K is rendering local youth jobless by one way or other, the Ladakh administration has set an example of protecting the rights of the permanent residents of the mountainous region. Ladakh administration has invited applications for the posts of Environmental Fee Checking Asstts. In the notification, it has been mentioned that only permanent residents of Leh are eligible for these posts because these posts are meant only for the Leh district. “Office of the Deputy Commissioner Leh invites application from permanent residents of Leh (Age 18-43, Qualification- 10th pass & above) for the post of Environmental Fee Checking Asstt. on a monthly stipend of Rs.15,000/- Last date- 8 Sept 2021”, notification issued by Leh administration reads. In J&K, the administration has not only made all local and non-local domicile holders eligible for government jobs but higher-ups are also pursuing policies to make the local youth jobless. Despite repeated demands of the permanent residents to protect job and land rights, the J&K government had started recruitment for government posts amid controversy over the issuance of domicile certificates to “non-locals” following the abrogation of Article 370 in the year 2019. All the residents of the erstwhile J&K state, who have the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) before October 31 last year, are eligible to get the domicile certificate. Children of West Pakistan Refugees, Valmikis, displaced persons, PoK families, and Kashmiri migrants settled outside J&K, and those living for 15 years, besides kin of Central government officials, are also entitled to domicile and subsequently for government jobs in J&K. In the recent recruitment notification issued by the J&K authorities, government jobs have been opened for those who are holding ‘domicile certificates’. Earlier only permanent residents, holding Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) were eligible for government jobs. |
