Srinagar, Oct 5: Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Baseer Khan was on Tuesday relieved from his post. Mr Khan, who started his journey as a Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officer and was later inducted to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 2000, was appointed as the Advisor to LG in March 2020. According to an order issued by the J&K General Administration Department, Mr Khan has been relieved from the post of Advisor to the Lt Governor, Union Territory (UT) of J&K, with immediate effect. “The communication to this effect was sent by the Ministry of Home Affair, Government of India, to J&K administration,” they added. Mr Khan was Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, when he attained the age of superannuation. However, the government extended his service by a year in 2019, when centre abrogated special status of erstwhile state of J&K. After his term ended, he was made the fourth advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, G C Murmu in March 2020. Khan was Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, between December 2011 and March 2013.
