Rana’s Delhi visit fuels speculation of him joining BJP !
Rana, three other former legislators exploring options; final decisions very soon

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 5: Devender Singh Rana, once considered as ‘righthand man’ of former chief minister Omar Abdullah, has fuelled rumours of his joining BJP due to his unscheduled visit to the Union capital.
Before departing for Delhi, Rana called some Jammu-based leaders for discussions regarding issues pertaining to the Jammu region.
Although a majority of the Jammu-based leaders of BJP are not aware of ongoing political developments especially the joining of some leaders in the party, highly placed sources said that it is almost final that four former MLAs including one ex-minister will join BJP very soon.
“If things will go in the right direction the high-profile joining will be held during the second week of this month”, sources said that along with Devender Singh Rana, three other legislators are in touch with BJP high-command. “Discussions are going on at the highest level. Top BJP leaders are in touch with four legislators”, a source said and
revealed that BJP high command has deputed a senior leader to coordinate among these leaders who have expressed their desire to join the Saffron Party.
Due to his unscheduled visit to Delhi on Monday evening, speculations are riffing that Omar Abdullah’s close and National Conference stalwart Devender Singh Rana is going to join BJP during the auspicious occasion of Navratras.
Like an astute politician, Rana neither denied nor confirmed rumours that he is going to join the BJP. He, however, sought to play a pro-Jammu card of BJP.
“There will be no compromise over the interests of Jammu region and the wishes and aspirations of its people,” he said, adding “as far as the interests of Jammu and its people are concerned, I have requested BJP, Congress, PDP, NC, and National Panthers Party some nine months back to come together for Jammu declaration.”
A prominent businessman of north India, Rana is the most prominent Hindu face of the National Conference in the Jammu region. He is the younger brother of Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. Despite the massive Modi wave in 2014, Rana had won the Nagrota assembly seat on an NC ticket. His victory from the Nagrota assembly seat, which was the home constituency of BJP’s sitting Lok Sabha member Jugal Kishore Sharma, had proved Rana’s capability as a mass leader.
