J&K admin trumpets tourist arrivals, forgets to maintain walkway along Dal lake
Empty vessels make much noise

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 18: J&K Government has been boasting about tourists thronging Kashmir and enjoying its natural beauty, but the Boulevard Road—most visited place in the city along Dal Lake here—hasn’t been maintained properly.
The walkway along Dal Lake has been awaiting repairs for a long time and the dogs are present everywhere along the famous Boulevard Road. “The UT administration has been trumpeting about the arrival of tourists in the Valley and is trying to project it as a big achievement,” said a politician.
He said that the helmsmen seem to have forgotten that it’s not for the first time that the tourists have arrived in Kashmir. “The tourists have been visiting Kashmir for years together. They are just trying to score brownie points to claim that they have been successful,” the politician added.
He said, “It won’t be an exaggeration to say that the empty vessels are making much noise.”
It’s in place to mention here that Mall Road in Simla has been maintained in a very proper way and it’s considered to be the pride of Himachal Pradesh. “If one compares the Boulevard Road with Mall Road, the difference becomes clearly visible,” the politician said, adding, “The Himachal Pradesh Government does not indulge in propaganda but believes in doing its job well,” the politician added.
He said, “The walkway along the Boulevard needs immediate repairs. The authorities need to wake up and get rid of the dogs that roam freely on the Boulevard Road. Making noise about the arrival of tourists in Kashmir won’t help anyone’s cause.”
“The Boulevard Road needs to be maintained so that tourists feel comfortable. Making hollow announcements and noise is of no use,” he added.
