After a brief ‘friendship’, NC-PC back to war of words! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 18: Even as the National Conference and the Peoples Conference had gone for a “bonhomie” during the joint stint at the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration or PAGD, the two parties are seemingly at loggerheads again. For the last few days the National Conference leadership and Sajad Lone headed PC are targeting each other in public. While the PC has been saying that NC ruled J&K for most part of the last seven decades, the NC said “PC leaders were also in power from time to time.” Sajad Lone has accused that NC of playing with the sentiments of people during its rules while the NC said PC leaders including Sajad Lone’s father, Abdul Gani Lone “had been in the same politics.” The NC and PC used to be at “daggers drawn” and that Sajad and NC president Omar Abdullah would often enter into verbal duel online. The “war” had seemingly come to an end after the creation of the PAGD in 2019 in a bid to protest against the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir. For few months both Sajad Lone and Omar Abdullah would “pretend to be friends” in public circles but soon after that Sajad left the PAGD. In the latest, Sajad and his party have launched a scathing attack on the NC including its founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah while the latter party is doing the same against the PC. The NC accuses the PC of changing colors from separatism to mainstream only to mint personal fortunes. The NC leaders have accused the PC of trying to make fool of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by changing goal posts from time to time. Despite repeated attempts the leaders of the two parties didn’t respond to phone calls. |
