RAJOURI, Nov 18: Department of Sociology in collaboration with Department of Punjabi, Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti by organizing a webinar on “Life and Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji” in commemoration of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The resource person of the lecture was Harvinder Singh, a renowned research scholar, Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh, who has many publications to his credit. Resource person explicitly deliberated on the teachings and principles of Guru Nank Dev Ji. He stated that the most famous teaching attributed to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, is that there is only one God and that all human beings can have direct access to God. On the occasion, Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Vandana Gupta formally welcomed and felicitated the guests including the entire staff of the host college for continuing the age-old practice of celebrating the lives and works of saints, scholars, and intellectuals. Prof Beant Singh, Head Department of Punjabi also spoke on the occasion. The programme was hosted by Dr Shehzad Ahmed. The programme reasoned out with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Head, Department of Sociology Prof Sheraz Kousser. The event witnessed large participation from students and staff members of the college. |
