12/14/2021 10:20:37 PM

EARly Times Report

Jammu, Dec 14: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday called on Union Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat and discussed in detail the project to use Chenab river water for overcoming potable water scarcity in Jammu city and its outskirts.
The senior BJP leader from Jammu urged the Union Minister to pace up the work on the aforesaid project as Jammu City and its adjoining areas are facing acute shortage of water especially during the summer months. He said that Chenab river is a perennial water source and therefore its waters can end years' long dearth of potable water supply in Jammu. He said that already the Ranbir Canal is satiating the irrigation needs of the entire Jammu region by lifting up the Chenab river’s water and if the aforesaid project will come into existence the potable water needs of the city and its adjoining areas will also be fulfilled for the centuries together.
Kavinder also discussed BJP’s election strategy in Punjab with the Union Minister. The Union Minister said that scope of party is bright especially after amicable resolution of the farmers’ agitation. The meeting also held threadbare discussions on issues pertaining to J&K. Kavinder said that J&K is marching fast on the path of development and the people are impressed by the policies of BJP in the UT.
Later, Kavinder also met Manjinder Singh Sirsa and discussed various political issues with regard to upcoming polls and matters concerning common man. Kavinder congratulated Sirsa for joining the BJP. He wished him good luck for his new innings in politics.
