GDC Kalakote conducts cleanliness drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 14: NSS unit of GDC Kalakote in collaboration with Department of Environmental Sciences and EBSB to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has organized a seven-day long special winter camp for NSS volunteers of the college under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Romesh Kr Gupta. The second day of the special camp started with NSS song followed by National Anthem. Dr. Romesh Kr Gupta, Principal of the college addressed the assembly and appraised the volunteers for playing their part in saving the natural resources and become a role model to the society. From there the NSS volunteers went to Chainpur to clean river Tawi accompanied by NSS members of the college. NSS PO Priyanka Kumari boosted NSS volunteers for doing their job as a part of community service by sensitizing the masses by restoring the river quality. The Volunteers carried out this cleanliness drive by cleaning the river side, taking out all the garbage and plastics thereby disposing them off. The slogans related to the theme were displayed by the NSS Volunteers to spread awareness on the necessity of clean water. Rivers are the lifeline of any civilization and polluting it means extinction of the civilization. World is facing water crisis therefore it is the need of hour to save and protect our rivers from any kind of harmful substance and pollutants which affects the quality of water. Principal of the college Dr. Romesh Kr Gupta appreciated the Organizing Committee for initiating such fruitful activities in the college. The students were provided with refreshment in the end. |
