Shiv Sena opens free sewing and tailoring centers in Kupwara | "Meena Tai" centres to be opened in every district of UT: Sahni | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 4: With the aim of making women of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory self-reliant, Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit has opened free sewing centers in Kupwara district of Kashmir. According to a press release issued by the party's state office in Jammu, as part of the campaign launched for women empowerment, Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit has established the training centres to impart sewing and tailoring skills at Tehsil Kalapora in Kupwara, and village Champora in Handwara in presence of party's working president Ghulam Rasool Lone. On the very first day of opening, about a dozen women got themselves registered to learn sewing and tailoring skills. Shiv Sena party state president Manish Sahni informed that opening of the centre is part of the campaign launched under the guidance of Shiv Sena National Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Anil Desai especially for the empowerment of women in Jammu and Kashmir. The Shiv Sena President lamented that the women folk in Jammu and Kashmir is lagging far behind in terms of self reliance in comparison to their ilk in other states. Informing that Late Meena Tai Thackeray, wife of party founder Honorable Bala Saheb Thackeray, had initiated this step towards realizing the dream of making women self-reliant and the party's J&K unit will ensure its implementation on ground in J&K in true letter and spirit. Sahni said that on January 6, on the birth anniversary of Meena Tai, party's J&K Unit will continue with further extension of the chain of such sewing and tailoring centres across the UT and this will be a great tribute to the Great lady on her birth anniversary. He assured that very soon such centers would be opened in every district of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. Meanwhile, Manish Sahni profoundly appreciated Kanchma Doban and Munira Begum for their cooperation in providing free services for teaching sewing and tailoring to aspiring women at these centers opened in Kashmir. Prominent among others present on the occasion were District President Women's Wing Baramulla Irfana, and President Kupwara Nasima Begum. |
