New Delhi pulls up JK Govt on ‘failure after failure!’
1/4/2022 11:32:12 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 4: Even as the government of Jammu and Kashmir is trying to give a rosy picture of governance in the Union Territory, New Delhi has yet again “pulled up” the administration in J&K for “failure after failure.”
Sources said in the wake of the recent tragedy at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine that left at least 12 pilgrims dead and over a dozen wounded, the central government “gave a piece of mind” to the J&K administration adding that “such attitude will not be tolerated in future.”
Sources said atleast two such sessions took place on January 1 and January 2 morning each. Sources said during a meeting with those at the helm at Raj Bhawan, New Delhi conveyed that it was for the “second time in less than a month that avoidable crises had hit Jammu and Kashmir.”
Referring to the recent power breakdown in the UT in the wake of strike by Power Development Department, New Delhi said it was “unfortunate that things were not in place.”
“Last time you couldn’t manage the situation during power crises when people took to streets and Army was called in to run the power system and this time a tragedy which was avoidable has taken place. What are you upto,” sources said a functionary close the Prime Minister,, Narendra Modi told the administration in J&K.
Sources said the Raj Bhawan was told to act seriously so that the central government isn’t put to “awkward situation.”
Sources said New Delhi also told the Raj Bhawan that on its request one of the officials was granted extension of deputation in the region but that his presence seems to have “proved counterproductive as he is unable to coordinate with the Civil Secretariat officials.”
Sources said it was only after being “pulled up” by New Delhi that the J&K administration called a meeting to review arrangements at the Mata Vaishnu Devi shrine at Katra.
Sources said New Delhi told that UT government that Modi government was committed towards deliverance of good governance and that no lapse on the part of the administration would be tolerated.
Despite repeated attempts, the concerned were not available for comments.
