Widespread rains, snow at weekend in J&K | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 20: An active western disturbance is likely to hit Jammu and Kashmir on January 22 and 23, triggering widespread rains and snow, the Meteorological Department here said on Thursday. The bad weather may disrupt surface and air transport. The plains of the Kashmir Valley were lashed by rains while the upper reaches including the ski resort Gulmarg experienced fresh snowfall on Thursday. Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir, recorded a low of 2.2 degrees Celsius and received 2.9 mm of rains till Thursday morning. Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded minus 5 degrees Celsius. The temperature at Pahalgam in south Kashmir was minus 0.6 degrees, at Kupwara 1.2 degrees and at Leh in Ladakh minus 9 degrees. Drass recorded a low of minus 15.9 degrees Celsius. |
