JKPDCL operates stone crusher illegally in Kupwara | Pollution Control Board orders closure, snapping of electricity | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 30: Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation has been running a stone crusher illegally at Karnah Khumriyal in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. According to the details available with Early Times the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board in September and October 2021 had issued show cause notices to the manager JKPDCL to explain how come the stone crusher is operating without a permission from the JKPCB. But the manager didn’t gave any reply to the notice. On November 4, 2021 the PCB officials inspected the site and filed a report that the stone crusher is operational and the JKPDCL has not paid any attention to the notices issued by the JKPCB. After getting no response from the JKPDCL, the Regional Director of the J&K Pollution Control Board issued an order directing district administration Kupwara to close the stone crusher and he also directed the Chief Engineer of the Power Development Department to snap the electricity to the stone crusher. An observer said, “If a common man violates any rules, stringent fines are imposed on him but when the government departments and the corporations run by it do the same, nothing is done.” |
