J&K Sports Council turns its back towards football players | ‘We have been selected to represent India in Iran but officials in no mood to sponsor us’ | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 30: Football players from Kashmir selected to represent India in a tournament to be played in Iran are running from pillar to post seek support from the officials to facilitate their trip but aren’t getting any response. These players appeared at Press Colony in Srinagar on Sunday and narrated their ordeal. “We have been selected to play for the country in a football tournament to be held in Iran. When we approached the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council we were told that our trip cannot be sponsored and we have to manage our expenses on our own,” they said. The players said that none of the officials want to listen to them and they have been left with nowhere to go. “We appeal to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and help us achieve our goals. After getting a cold response from the officials one thing is clear that tall claims of the government to promote sports and players are a hoax,” they added. |
