After ET Report, admin agrees to 'provide financial support' to poor family | | | AJAY SHARMA Early Times Report SUNDERBANI, Feb 3: Following a news report carried by the Early Times regarding oblivious administration in supporting poor family in Reasi, the administration has finally agreed to 'provide' support to the family and has asked the concerned family to submit their documents. Early Times had reported that a person namely Deepak Kumar, who is living with his widow mother at Sudeen village of Panchayat Kothi Sudeen in Pouni tehsil have lost his house in a rain, due to which they were forced to live under open sky, as no one from administration came forward to help the family. In response to this, the Tehsil administration claimed that the relief case of Deepak Kumar under SDRF Rule could not be processed as the collapse of the house does not fall under the category of National Calamity Relief Act. However, local Sarpanch of the area Neelam Kumari maintained that the family is eligible to have financial assistance under Pradhan Mantri Gram Awas Yojna. "They belong to below poverty line strata of the society and also fulfills other requisite conditions to avail the benefits under PMGAY scheme," said Neelam Kumari, adding that denying them their basic right is wrong on the part of administration. She also provided Rs 85000 to Deepak for construction of cattle shed. Meanwhile, when concerned Tehsildar Lekh Raj was asked how many houses were constructed under PMGAY in the past couple of years, he was baffled and could not respond properly. He, however, sought bank details, ration card and BPL copy of the poor family to be submitted in the office of the Tehsildar, which he said shall be forwarded to the office of Deputy Commissioner for necessary action. He also said that financial support for the family can also be provided from the Red Cross. |
