SDH Akhnoor: Attendants of expecting mothers asked to purchase medicines from open market | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 3: Expecting mothers visiting Sub District Hospital Akhnoor for delivery are asked to purchase the medicines from an open market. The Husband of Veena Devi, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, while talking to a news channel said, “I was asked to purchase all the medicines from the market. It was a normal delivery and purchased the medicines worth Rs 3000/. You can imagine how much a person would have to spend if his wife has to undergo a cesarean.” He said, “The medicines which I purchased from an open market should be provided free of cost to the patients. I had money, but there were many people whom I saw struggling to purchase these medicines.” “The tall claims of the government about providing free medicine to a common man are confined to papers only. I want to ask the helmsmen, do centrally sponsored schemes like the PM Jan Ashuadi scheme, PM Vandan yojana really exist? Or these are just claims,” he added. He stated that infrastructure within the Akhnoor hospital is in shambles. “It’s unfortunate that poor patients are suffering under the very watchful eyes of the Health Department officials,” he added. |
