Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 3: Expressing strong resentment against the LG Administration for using force to suppress their protest for justice, the injured Border Battalion aspirants cleared that they will not budge from their struggle and continue to fight for justice. Several aspirants including girls who got injured two days ago when they were taking out protest demonstration at Bikram Chowk demanding cancellation of new notification and conduction of their written exams wherein police used force to stop them due to which many protestors got injured.
“We were taking out peaceful protest but immediately police personnel stopped and thrashed us where they also used blows due to which I got injured and similarly one of our friends who got arms injuries when a policeman pulled her hand, now she is in hospital for treatment,” a girl aspirant said.
She further said that they were shocked that LG has been watching all this but he is doing nothing. “We are making a simple demand that new notification should be cancelled and the written exams which are pending for the last three years should be conducted immediately yet LG Administration has turned deaf ears to our grievances” she alleged.
Other aspirants said that they all had come from remote border villages where survival is very difficult and they were very happy when announcement was made that border battalion is going to be formed and in 2019 notification for recruitment was first issued and physical test were conducted and they all who are in protest passed this test but unfortunately written exams could not be completed till date.
“Earlier we were given the excuse of COVID pandemic and meanwhile several recruitment exams were held in JKUT but our written exams were not held despite deliberate attempts by the administration,” they alleged.
