Election Commission on behest of BJP tormented aspirations of Jats, farmers: AIJMS | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 7: Leveling serious allegations against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) on Monday asserted that on the behest of ruling government in the Centre the Election Commission of India has beleaguered the aspirations of the entire Jat community and the farmers. In a statement issued to media persons, President of the Sabha and former Mayor, Ch Manmohan Singh alleged that it is the deep conspiracy of the BJP to give a setback to Jats and farmers, who live in clusters in the constituencies starting from Lakhanpur to Mendhar as all the constituencies have been reserved to annul the voice of Jats who live in large numbers in these areas. He said all seats from Kathua besides Ramgarh Bishnah, RS Pura, Marh, Khour, Mendhar and part of Samba have been reserved while Suchetgarh, the bastion of Jats and farmers has been dissolved and the Nowshera is merged with Anantnag exposing the unfairness of ruling government explicitly. "This is a cruel attempt of the ruling government to muzzle the voice of Jats and farmers and for this the ruling Government in the Centre has taken the route of constituting Delimitation Commission", Singh said, adding that the Jats will not tolerate injustice by remaining silent. Ch Manmohan Singh mentioned that in the previous regime there were four Legislators including two MLCs from the Jat community. In view of present scenario, there will be no one in the government to represent the Jat community in near future, he added. Ch Manmohan Singh said that the time has come for the Jat community and the farmers to shun differences and get united to fight for the rights on the lines of farmers of the country on the issue of three farm laws. He said that Jat community should get ready for agitation against such discriminatory step taken by Election Commission of India on the behest of ruling government. Raising another issue, Ch Manmohan Singh said merging Nowshera (Pir Panjal) with Anantnag is a cruel joke for the people of the border district. He said that people living on this side of Pir Panjal will have to wait for months together to meet their Member Parliament as Mughal Road remains snow covered and coming to Jammu for heading towards Anantnag is problematic and a tedious affair. He alleged that whosoever has given this suggestion is unaware of the ground realities of J&K and has taken the decision with bookish knowledge and therefore it is appealed to revisit the same without wasting any time. The former Mayor demanded to restore Suchetgarh Constituency for the simple reason that this was the hub of Jats and the move by the ECI is biased and highly discriminatory. He said that Jats will not take rest until the government will not ensure justice to their community as whatever has been done is totally against the interests of the nationalist community which has always supported the cause of the country despite facing umpteen difficulties. He requested the Election Commission of India to rethink its decision as per the present draft the whole Jat community will be debarred from reaching the Assembly. |
