In Jammu Smart City, dogs unleash terror! | Kill 12-year old boy in North Kashmir | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 7: The canine terror in Jammu has made the life miserable for the people. The stray dogs don’t let anyone come out of their homes in the night hours as they want for their prey. “The Jammu Municipal Corporation has failed to come for the rescue of people. The stray dogs are dictating terms to people and have unleashed terror. Cases of dog bites are increasing with each passing day,” said a resident. He said that we had heard that JMC has started the sterilization process of the dogs to control their population but it seems that these claims were confined to papers only. “The ground reality contradicts the claims of the government about Jammu being turned into a Smart City. In the Smart City dogs are having a day out and authorities are acting as mute spectators,” the resident said. Meanwhile, a 10-year old boy was mauled to death by stray dogs in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday. The incident evoked strong protest by the locals who said that the stray dog population in the area has increased manifold as garbage was being dumped in the area by different Municipal Council authorities. The deceased Azan Ahmad of Gund Ibrahim Pattan was walking on the roadside when suddenly a pack of stray dogs attacked him. The boy died on the spot. It was the second such incident in recent times across North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Earlier, a popular young lawyer of Dewanbagh Baramulla, Abdul Majeed Rather, lost his life after a pack of stray dogs attacked him near his residence. |
