| Merging Poonch, Rajouri with Anantnag doesn’t make sense: NC MLA | | |

Jammu, Feb 7: Former National Conference MLA, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, on Monday demanded that Poonch and Rajouri should be given one more seat.
Talking to Early Times Jan said, “Residents of Poonch and Rajouri have always stood with the Indian Army in its fight against Pakistan. They have faced shells and bombs and have always proven their nationalistic character. It’s unfortunate that despite we giving immense sacrifices, our demand to get one more seat is not being heard.” He said that NC leadership has already raised objections over the draft submitted by the Delimitation Commission. “Our demand is clear that Poonch and Rajouri should be given a separate seat. These areas should not be linked with Kashmir.”
Jan said, “We are not against reservation but the seats have been reserved to benefit BJP.” He said, “Associating Rajouri and Poonch with Anantnag doesn’t make sense. This needs to be considered.” |
