Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 16: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today exhorted the people to inculcate the spirit of selflessness and righteousness as preached by saints and sages, saying that fellow feelings hold key to the harmonious growth of society.
Paying rich tributes to great saint and social reformer Guru Ravi Dass on his Jayanti at a largely attended congregation at Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Krishna Nagar here, Rana said that best way of celebrating the occasion is to take a pledge to follow his teachings in letter and spirit and work for building a society based on the natural principles of social justice, equality, compassion, love and togetherness.
Rana said the teachings of Guru have inspired the generations and helped in transforming the society, making it conducive for various communities, irrespective of cast, creed and colour. He said the relevance of the teaching of the great saint and philosopher assume significance now, as never before, since the society at large is confronted with a challenge to achieve the objective of social justice and equitable opportunities of progress and development to all.
Dwelling upon the life and teachings of Guru, Rana recalled his eventful life and said he emerged as a beacon light at a time when the society was engulfed by darkness. He referred to the great role played by the Guru in ensuring that all segments of the society live with honour and dignity. He made a fervent appeal to devotees to act upon the eternal message of the great saint and spread the message of love, peace and compassion, which was the high point of Guru’s life.
