Sand tipper used to cost Rs 4000, now people pay Rs 15000: Altaf Bukhari | ‘Outsiders filling coffers, locals rendered jobless’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 7: President of Apni Party Altaf Bukhari on Monday accused present J&K dispensation of snatching the livelihood of locals by handing over mining contracts to outsiders. Talking to Early Times, Bukhari said, “Nearly 10 lakh people in Jammu and Kashmir were associated with the mining business but they have been rendered jobless by giving this work to outsiders.” He said, “Earlier a sand tipper used to cost Rs 3500/ to Rs 4000/, now the same tipper costs around Rs 12000/ to Rs 15000/. This has put an extra burden of Rs 12000 crore to Rs 13000 crore on the J&K natives. Increase in rates has also put extra burden on the government as it will lead to J&K exchequer paying Rs 4000 crore to Rs 5000 crore extra to suppliers.” He said, “Instead of locals getting benefitted, outsiders are filling their coffers at the cost of J&K people. Just to appease a few contractors, natives have been left in lurch.” |
