Sunderbani family forced to sell land to meet expenses of 4th surgery of 6 years old daughter | Health card continues to be denied in J&K | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 20: People living in the far-flung areas of the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir are being denied benefits of the health card with the result the poor families have to shell out huge amounts of money in order to get treatment. A poor family from Sunderbani area in Rajouri district has been running from pillar to post since their daughter has been operated upon three years even though she is of just six years of age. The girl has been operated upon thrice in six years and the concerned health institutions have not entertained the golden card. Since the girl has to be operated upon for the fourth time in the near future the family has made up its mind as how to generate funds for the same. The family has decided to sell its land and the money received would be utilized for the surgery of the little girl. The family has a chunk of land consisting of three or four Kanals and it has decided to sell the same. For a rural family a chunk of land is considered to be the ultimate asset and it would think many times before selling the same. But in this case the family has no option but to take the extreme step. |
