Spike in terror strikes puts Raj Bhawan to ‘embarrassment’ before New Delhi | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20: A few hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah left Jammu after chairing a high level security meeting, three separate terror strikes in Kashmir took place -exposing the alleged failure of the Raj Bhawan in tackling the situation. On March 19, during his second day of the high profile visit, the visiting dignitary reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir with Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and senior officers, before flying back to Delhi. As per an official handout, “Amit Shah said the security grid should be further strengthened to ensure zero cross-border infiltration and to eliminate terrorism completely in order to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.” A few hours later, however, three CRPF men and a non- local labourer were injured in three militancy related incidents across Kashmir. “During the evening hours, three terror incidents were reported from South Kashmir’s Pulwama, Shopian and Awantipora districts. While a non-local carpenter identified as Muhammad Akram son of Ab Salam resident of Bijnor UP was fired upon at Arihal Pulwama, a CRPF Jawan was injured when terror groups lobbed a grenade on CRPF camp of 178Bn. In another incident, militants lobbed a grenade on CRPF camp of 180Bn at Nowdal Tral in which two CRPF personnel received splinter injuries. Kashmir has already witnessed a fresh spike in target killings in the month of March. This month alone, at least five civilians including three Panchayat members were killed by terror groups. Sources said while New Delhi was already not satisfied with the security arrangements in Kashmir, “the fresh spike in violence after the Home Minister’s visit puts questions over the competence of the Raj Bhawan.” The Raj Bhawan has already been facing criticism for allegedly focussing more on holding musical concerts and other such entertainment events. Ironically on the day when two non –Muslim teachers were killed in Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had kickstarted Jashne Dal drawing severe criticism. A group of senior officials told the Early Times on the condition of anonymity that New Delhi must probe the role of some officials on deputation in J&K in making some crucial postings. “We hope that New Delhi directly controls how things are unfolding in J&K.” |
