OT at Bone & Joint Hospital restored after fire incident | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Mar 22: The Operation Theatre (OT) in Kashmir's only Orthopedic Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla was made functional on Tuesday after a recent fire incident, officials said. A massive fire broke out from the emergency theatre on the third floor of the old building of the 250 beds Hospital on late March 4, causing extensive damage to the building and outpatient wards. Jammu and Kashmir government has operationalized the OT in the prestigious Bone and Joint Hospital in less than a month's time after a major fire destroyed the building, they said. "The operation theatre in the valley's only Bone and Joint Hospital at Barzulla was made functional in a record time and normal work resumed from today", a senior Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Mian Suhail Sultan told UNI. He said the emergency surgeries at the OT was made totally functional on Tuesday which was gutted during the March 4 fire incident within a record time of fifteen days. Dr Sultan said that the emergency surgeries were being conducted from one of the tables of the main OT of the hospital which was not affected by the fire incident from March 9. The Out Patient Department (OPD) services were restarted at Hospital on March 7, three days after the fire incident. The fire prompted authorities to made 24x7 emergency Orthopedic clinics functional in several hospitals in the valley, including Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) hospital Srinagar, District Hospital Pulwama, District Hospital Kulgam, Sub district hospital Kupwara and Sub district hospital Sopore for the convenience of the public. |
