Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 22: In yet another embarrassment to the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the central government has pulled up the Babus presently posted in the erstwhile state over the dilatory mode of functioning and leaving the grave issues like that of joblessness sadistically unattended and unresolved.
Reports coming to the fore stated that the department-related parliamentary standing committee on Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) has recommended to the authorities to fast-track recruitment on the posts which have been referred to the Services Selection Board (SSB) and Public Service Commission (PSC).
The report which was tabled in the Parliament last week stated that the Committee notes that 20,323 posts have been advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board since the year 2020 and presently the selection process has been completed with respect to 9,205 posts, while selection for the remaining posts is under process at various stages.
It states that the committee recommends to fast track the recruitment on the remaining posts and resolve the procedural/ administrative issues which are delaying the recruitment.
Reports further inform that out of the 20,323 posts advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board since the year 2020, the selection process has been completed with respect to 9205 posts, while the rest of more than 11 thousand posts are lying vacant.
Pertinently, in the recent past, instead of referring the posts to the recruitment agencies, the Jammu and Kashmir administration cancelled the posts en-masse that were advertised post October 2019.
This measure led severe disgruntlement among the youth. However, no remedial measure was taken.
According to an official communiqué of the General Administration Department dated February 3, 2022, “All posts referred to JKPSC/SSB prior to 31.10.2019, for which selections have not been finalized till date, as also the posts in which there are litigations and the cases are pending in court shall be deemed to have been withdrawn with immediate effect".
The decision was earlier taken during the meeting of the Administrative Council on February 2. In the letter, the GAD has also directed all the concerned to implement the directions of the administrative council in letter and spirit under an intimation to the GAD.
Such a decision is being widely condemned by one and all in Jammu and Kashmir and there are mounting concerns pertaining to the far-reaching consequences such a decision will have.
Also, report titled “Periodic Labour Force Survey April-June 2021” released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has revealed that the unemployment figures among educated youth in J&K have reached 46.3 percent, the second-highest in India.
