Pahalgam power supply project shelved; locals, tourists suffer | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 22: The world class tourist resort of Pahalgam in South Kashmir continues to yearn for round the clock power supply and the basic reason for the same is the shelving of a prestigious power project taken by the Power Development Department (PDD) then. In 2015 the then state government had sanctioned the project regarding up-gradation of lower tension (LT) system. The transmission system from the Dupatyar receiving station was to connect the lines with Pahalgam so that the famous tourist resort would get round the clock power supply. The project was shelved and since Jammu & Kashmir was without a popular government since the past three and half years no headway whatsoever was made in the project. This has resulted into a situation whereby visitors at Pahalgam continue to suffer on account of energy front. |
