Transporters call for ‘Chaka-Jam’ from Lakhanpur to Kashmir today | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 29: Outraged at the failure of the government to fulfill their genuine transporters, they staged a protest here on Tuesday. Talking to reporters, protesters said, “For the past 10-days we have been requesting the administration to listen to our demands but no one has paid any attention towards it. Transport industry in J&K is at the verge of death as the new policies being implemented by the government have made our lives miserable.” They said, “On Wednesday there will be a complete chaka-jam from Lakhanpur to Kashmir. The government has not woken up. It doesn’t want to talk to us.” Transporters said, “Our demands include, increasing the age of our vehicles from 20 to 25-years and sort out the issues of permit. We are being made to pay tax at every step but nothing has been done to facilitate us.” |
