3-years on, Admin fails to establish Sumo stand at Sirhama | Drivers threaten to sell of vehicles, blame babus for their miseries | | Early Times Report
SIrhama (Anantnag), Apr 3: Sumo drivers staged a protest here in South Kashmir on Sunday against the failure of the administration to provide them with a space to set up a stand for their vehicles. Protesters while talking to Early Times said, “There are 40 vehicles in Sirhama area and we have been given one marla land to park the Sumos. The space is insufficient. We have been running from one office to another for the past three years to get the space allotted but the officials are not paying any heed towards our requests.” The Sumo drivers said, “If we are not provided with space for Sumo Stand we will be left with no other option other than to sell our vehicles. There are forty families dependent on these Sumos but the officials seem least bothered about our problems.” They urged the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to direct the concerned tehsildar to provide the space to Sumo drivers for setting up the stand. |
