Court grants one month judicial custody of ex-Minister & other in Hawala trade

JAMMU, Apr 16: Special Judge NIA Suneet Gupta today granted one month judicial custody of ex-Minister Jatinder Singh @ Babu Singh and Mohammad Shareef Shah in alleged hawala trade and sent them to Kot-Bhalwal jail.
The court while granting judicial remand of Babu Singh and Shareef observed that the present application has been filed by the IO of the case namely Sachit Sharma. DySP SDPO South Jammu before this court for grant of judicial remand for the aforesaid accused through virtual mode.
The court after perusal of remand application reveals that aforesaid accused was arrested on 9-4-2022 and 31-3-2022 by the IO in the above mentioned case/ FIR. As such on the basis of said allegations the aforesaid accused has been booked for the aforesaid offences. As per the request of the IO, accused named above remained in police custody for seven days and no further police remand of the accused is required by the IO and now, by way of present application, IO has sought judicial remand of the above named accused for a period of 30 days.
The court observed that the offences attributable to the aforesaid accused are heinous in nature and as per IO the investigation of the case is still going on, hence the prayer made by the IO is accepted and the aforesaid accused is remanded to the judicial custody for 30 days from 16-4-2022 to 15-5-2022. During the period of judicial remand the accused shall be kept in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu. Superintendent Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu is directed to produce the accused before this court on 15th of May 2022 on the completion of the judicial remand.
