J&K Govt spends lakhs on advertisements but fails to control breeding of mosquitoes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 16: Jammu and Kashmir Government has spent lakhs of rupees on advertisements to give a message to control the spread of mosquitoes but on the ground nothing concrete has been done. Instead of taking effective steps to control breeding of mosquitoes, authorities appear to be busy wasting money on the cash-starved Union Territory. Highly placed sources said that during its visit in Jammu region after the outbreak of deadly Dengue in the month of October 2021, a team of experts deputed by the Union Government had suggested fogging in different areas of Jammu after repeated intervals. “No initiative has been taken to conduct fogging in different localities of Jammu city which are vulnerable for mosquitoes breeding”, sources said and added that higher-ups in the administration are busy in conducting cosmetic exercises just to befool the people. Sources said higher-ups in the administration are least concerned about solving basic problems of the people and they are only concerned about getting publicity. “Lakhs and lakhs of rupees have been wasted just on advertisements to control breeding of mosquitoes but on the ground no effective step has been taken”. Important to mention here that a team of experts deputed by the Union Government had expressed its unhappiness with steps taken by the local authorities in tackling dengue in the Union Territory in general and Jammu province in particular. Highly placed sources said that during its visit to the areas worst affected by dengue the team observed that except for the publicity nothing concrete was done on the grounds. Sources further said that the J&K administration had taken dengue very casually and except giving advertisements in the selective media no serious step was taken during monsoon to tackle the situation. |
