Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a resident of north Kashmir for allegedly collecting funds for the banned organisation, Jamat-e-Islami (JeI). Police identified the accused as Mohammad Amin Ganie, resident of Kanlibagh Baramulla. Police said the arrest was made on specific information that money was being collected for the banned organisation. "Acting on specific information about collection of money in the name of banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami in town Baramulla, Police and Army's 46 RR arrested Mohammad Amin who was riding on a scooty," a statement by Baramulla Police said. "Three receipt books of Jamaat, a mobile phone and cash of Rs 15900 which was collected by him from the general public in the name of banned organization JeI was recovered. A search was also carried out at his house," it added. Police said that a case under Sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation set in motion, said the statement. |
