Srinagar: Wild grass on Jehlum banks punctures ‘Smart City’ claims | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 25: The tall claims about turning Srinagar into Smart City are confined to papers only failure of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to cut the wild grass that has come up along the banks of river Jhelum here has once again put a question mark on the so-called development taking place in J&K. The houseboat owners of Abi Guzar on Monday urged the Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control department to carry out a exercise and cut the wild grass that has come up along the banks of river Jhelum here. The houseboat owners while talking to Early Times said that they had contacted the concerned Assistant Executive Engineer of Irrigation and Flood Control department for cutting of grass but no action has been taken. They also appealed to the Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation to take care of their concerns before starting the Cruise service in the river Jhelum. They said that they are not against the concept of ‘Smart City’ but that should not be at the cost of causing trouble to the houseboat owners. |
