Power, water crisis irks consumers during Ramdhan in Poonch
Authorities is deep slumber, locals demands reshufflement in postings of engineers

Poonch, Apr 30: Severe power and water crisis hits consumers in various parts of district Poonch amid the month of Holly Ramdhan disrupting normal life for the last one month. A large number of people from different areas of the Poonch district, especially from the town, Mandi, Surankote, Mendhar complained of unscheduled power curt which also affected the water supply badly. “There is a severe power crisis in our area. There has been no electricity in our area since long. The area confronts unscheduled power cut but during the month of Holly Ramdhan, the situation gets pretty bad in the absence of power,” said Mohd Akram, a resident of Poonch. He said that in many areas especially in Poonch, Mandi, and parts of all remote areas, water supply was also affected due to the power crisis during the month of Ramdhan. The other residents of the Poonch have said “There has been almost no supply of water in various areas of Poonch for a month. The employees of the concerned department have been telling us that the water level has drastically declined, badly affecting the supply in these areas". They further said, “We have been receiving electricity only for a few hours during the entire day and water supply is effected badly". They said some Engineers sitting in the department are overstayed and have political background, they didn't take thier job seriously. Most of the engineers are enjoying their jobs in Poonch, the transformer of those is mandatory for the betterment of the defunct system. Locals have appealed to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to intervene into the matter and take cognizance of the matter at earliest for the betterment of the system.
