Agencies KHAJJAR, HIMACHAL PRADESH, Apr 7: Fourth-semester students from the School of Civil Engineering (SoCE), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), successfully concluded a week-long surveying camp at Khajjiar, aimed at providing practical exposure to core surveying techniques. During the camp, students engaged in hands-on training with advanced instruments like Total Stations and Auto Levels, alongside traditional methods such as Plane Table and Compass Surveying. The exercises enhanced their understanding of topographic mapping, contouring, and levelling, helping them apply theoretical knowledge in real-world terrains. Set against the scenic yet challenging landscape of Khajjiar, the camp fostered both technical proficiency and team spirit. Students developed essential field skills, from precise measurement handling to interpreting survey data and generating accurate maps-key competencies for budding civil engineers. The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. Naqeeb Ul Islam (Course Coordinator), along with faculty members Dr. Shankar Singh Khushwaha, Dr. Yati Aggarwal, and Mr. Love Sharma (Lab Assistant). Their mentorship enriched the students' learning journey with real-world insights.
