HM discusses prevailing security, political situation with top leaders | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 7: During the second day of his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed the prevailing security and political situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in a closed-door meeting with senior BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders. The ninety-minute meeting was held at the residence of Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma at Gandhi in which top leadership of J&K BJP and Sangh Parivar was present. Apart from the BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was also present at the meeting. This meeting is significant in the sense that the ruling National Conference, along with coalition partner Congress and other Kashmir-centric parties, have decided to rake up the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 in Jammu and Kashmir. Today’s development in the Legislative Assembly is a clear indication that all non-BJP parties have decided to trigger political debate in Jammu and Kashmir on the Waqf Bill. Furthermore, growing differences between the Lieutenant Governor’s administration and the Jammu and Kashmir government is also important issues that may have been discussed in the meeting. Security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Jammu province, is another burning issue. |
