Electronic surveillance system to be set-up all along Indo-Pak border: Amit Shah
Visits Vinay Post in Kathua, lauds BSF jawans for their efforts, dedication
4/7/2025 11:07:40 PM
Early Times Report

Vinay Post (Indo-Pak Border), Apr 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that an electronic surveillance system would be set up along the Indo-Pak border within three to four years to counter the nefarious designs of the enemy through advanced technology.
Addressing BSF troops at Vinay Post on the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, Shah said that the government would establish two model electronic surveillance systems along the border.
“After the installation of these systems, the BSF will be able to receive accurate information and respond swiftly to any movement along the border with the help of technology,” he said. “BSF personnel will also be equipped with advanced tools to detect and destroy cross-border tunnels.”
“Within three to four years, this electronic surveillance system will be fully implemented on the Indo-Pak border,” he reiterated.
He added that similar systems would later be extended to the Indo-Bangladesh border, marking a significant step toward modernizing India’s border security infrastructure.
The Union Home Minister praised the Border Security Force (BSF) for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation.
Shah said, “I am here on the Indo-Pak border at Vinay Post. When I come here, I realize that the BSF is working in extremely challenging conditions to protect the country’s borders. You are serving the nation round the clock—24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
Highlighting the challenges faced by the BSF, Shah emphasized their critical role in national security. “You are thwarting the nefarious intentions of the enemy. You are also battling adverse geography and hostile weather conditions,” he remarked.
He further highlighted the BSF’s legacy, stating, “BSF has a vast and glorious history of protecting India’s security and integrity. It is our front line of defense. In all wars with Pakistan, the BSF has played a role no less significant than that of the Army.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited a forward post of the BSF along the India-Pakistan border in Kathua district to interact with the troops guarding the nation’s frontiers.
Shah flew by helicopter to the Hiranagar sector from Jammu around noon and was later escorted to the BSF outpost ‘Vinay’ to assess the ground situation.
BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and other senior officers, including IG of BSF Jammu Frontier Shashank Anand and IG of Police Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti, received the Home Minister.
Earlier, on Sunday evening, Amit Shah visited the BJP office to celebrate the party’s 45th foundation day. He held a closed-door meeting with the BJP MLAs and office-bearers for over two hours to discuss the prevailing political situation and security scenario in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Under the leadership of (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji, the BJP will continue to work for the prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir,” he wrote on X late Sunday night.
