Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 7: During Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, a significant political shift is unfolding as separatist leaders continue to distance themselves from the Hurriyat Conference and pledge allegiance to India’s Constitution.
In the latest development, Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, leader of the Kashmir Freedom Front (KFF), formally severed ties with the Hurriyat Conference. In a written statement, Andrabi declared his organization’s complete dissociation from the separatist politics of the Hurriyat, emphasizing that the group has failed to address the people’s true interests. He also warned of legal action against anyone attempting to associate him or his party with the Hurriyat.

t Hurriyat Conference, including Ghulam Nabi War of Tehreek-i-Istiqamat and other groups such as the Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (JKDPM) and Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM). These defections, citing disillusionment with the group’s agenda and loss of public trust, highlight a broader trend of integration into India’s democratic framework.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded these developments, describing them as a testament to the growing national cohesion in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Once a powerful coalition of 26 social, political, and religious groups, the Hurriyat Conference has seen its influence wane significantly in recent years, with the cessation of protests, shutdowns, and other separatist activities since the constitutional changes.
