GDC Paloura celebrates World Health Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 7: Govt. degree college, Paloura (Mishriwala) in collaboration with the departments of Physical Education, Veterinary Technology, Botany and Environmental Sciences celebrated World Health Day on the theme "Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures" by organizing a series of events and activities which aimed to promote health awareness and well-being among students and the staff.. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr Vikram Jamwal, HOD department of Physical Education in which he stressed on promoting healthy lifestyle. He further added that balanced and nutritious diet accompanied with exercise and strenuous physical activity must be a part of daily routine for the overall well-being. Dr. Sikander Shabab Khan, HOD department of Veterinary Technology, keynote speaker of the programme, delivered a lecture on 'Promoting long-term health of mothers and newborns'. He highlighted the interventions made by Govt. of India to reduce child and maternal mortality though various govt. sponsored schemes along with future prospects. He further added that the involvement of various stakeholder, community participation, ensuring transparency and accountability in health care systems with regular audits of clinical services, death and reporting of adverse outcomes is paramount for achieving overall health. Prof. Vijay Kumari, HOD Dept. Of Environmental Sciences stressed on improving the environment for a healthy living and organized a Plantation drive inside college campus. Later monitoring of health status of faculty and students through various body parameters viz. calculating BMI, Hip to waist ratio, blood pressure etc was carried out. Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of the college lauded the efforts of the organizing team and added that through these initiatives, our college aim to foster a culture of health and wellness, empowering individuals to make informed choices and adopt healthy lifestyles by educating and engaging students, faculty, and the broader community on prioritizing health and well-being. |
