Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Apr 7: In a major success against illegal cattle transportation, the Udhampur Police rescued 20 bovines from the clutches of a smuggler and seized a truck being used for smuggling activities. The incident took place at Tikri Naka point, where a police team from Police Post Tikri, led by In-Charge Police Post (ICPP), was conducting routine vehicle checking. During the checking, a suspicious truck bearing registration number HR65A-9987 was intercepted. On inspection, 20 bovines were found cruelly tied and crammed inside the vehicle, being transported without any valid permission. Notably, the driver of the truck managed to flee the scene, abandoning the vehicle on the road. All the bovines were immediately rescued and shifted to a safe location for proper care. A case FIR No. 46/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rehambal. Police officials have confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the absconding driver and any other individuals involved in the smuggling racket.
