Early Times Report SAMBA, Apr 7: In a concerted effort to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, Samba Police organized an anti-drug awareness programme today at Police Station Ghagwal, attracting enthusiastic participation from students of Government Degree College, Ghagwal, teaching faculty, and police personnel. The programme was presided over by DySP Headquarters Samba, accompanied by the SHO of Police Station Ghagwal, and aimed at educating the youth about the harmful consequences of drug addiction and the importance of leading a disciplined, drug-free life. In his address, DySP Hqrs Samba urged students to channel their energy into constructive activities like education, sports, and cultural engagements. He encouraged them to stay vigilant and cooperate with the police in the mission to eliminate drugs from society, emphasizing that students can play a vital role in creating a drug-free environment. Highlighting the district's ongoing anti-drug efforts, DySP informed the attendees about the dedicated Anti-Drug Squad established under the leadership of SSP Samba, which actively tracks and exposes drug peddlers and their networks. He reaffirmed Samba Police's commitment to eradicating drugs through awareness, enforcement, and community collaboration. The students also toured Police Station Ghagwal as part of the initiative. They were briefed on the roles and responsibilities of key functionaries including the SHO, Munshi, and Duty Officer. The visit aimed to foster transparency and understanding of police operations while building trust between the police and youth. The initiative received appreciation from students and faculty, who lauded the efforts of J&K Police in promoting awareness and encouraging proactive youth engagement against drug abuse. |
