Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Apr 7: To combat the menace of drug abuse, a Mega Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Awareness Campaign was today successfully conducted across all 13 blocks of District Kishtwar. The campaign, held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Kumar Shavan, witnessed an overwhelming response from the public. The awareness drive took place in 13 panchayats across the 13 blocks of the district, with each block hosting informative sessions led by resource persons from eight key departments, including Health, Police, Education, Rural Development Department (RDD), besides Ex-PRIs. The experts were meticulously nominated by the administration to educate and empower the community about the dire consequences of drug abuse. At the District Headquarters, the event was organized at B.Town 1 Panchayat, MS Zewar, where a large gathering of officials, departmental representatives, and local residents engaged actively. The events at all block levels also featured addresses by key speakers (resource persons) from Social Welfare, Health, Education, RDD, Police, and others. The resource persons shared critical insights on the harmful effects of drug addiction, discussing not only the physical and mental health implications but also the social and economic consequences. The Campaigns were executed with meticulous planning and coordination under the guidance of District Nodal Officer IEC (DSWO) Zubair Ahmed ensuring comprehensive outreach. The events will continue every Monday in all 136 panchayats and 94 educational institutions across the 13 blocks of District Kishtwar. |
