Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 7: Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu observed World Health Day 2025 with a series of engaging activities aimed at promoting general and mental well-being among students and staff. The event was held under the guidance of the Principal and Dean, Dr. Parveen Akhter Lone. Marking the theme for this year, "Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind", a poster and slogan competition was organised, witnessing enthusiastic participation from BDS students. The activities revolved around the importance of oral hygiene as a contributor to overall physical and mental health. A key highlight of the celebration was a pledge taken by students and faculty to promote good oral health, underlining its indirect yet impactful role in improving mental and physical well-being. Adding further depth to the occasion, Dr. Manmeet Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, ASCOMS Jammu, delivered an insightful and interactive lecture on "General Health and Managing Stress in Today's Time." The session was appreciated for its relevance and effectiveness in addressing modern health challenges. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Parveen Akhter Lone emphasized that a healthy smile leads to a healthier life. "Through such initiatives, we aim to instil a positive attitude and raise awareness about the connection between oral health and mental well-being," she said.
