Early Times Report BANDIPORA, Apr 7: As part of the UT level IEC campaign against Drug Abuse, the District Administration Bandipora today launched a comprehensive panchayat level Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign across the district. The campaign, organised in every block of district, aimed to create mass awareness and encourage public participation in preventing substance abuse and supporting affected individuals. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of civil society members and local youth. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri presided over the event at Block office Aloosa. On the occasion, resource persons from Health, Social Welfare, Education, Police and other concerned departments deliberated on the causes, consequences, and preventive measures related to drug abuse, while also highlighting the role of public participation in curbing the growing threat. Speaking on the occasion, DC said that drug abuse is a serious social issue that requires a united response from all sections of society. He said that the district administration is committed to the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals affected by substance abuse, and several initiatives have been taken to support victims of drug abuse. He further stressed the need to engage youth, educational institutions at grassroots level in the fight against drugs, adding that awareness and timely intervention can save lives and build a healthier society. He said the campaign, being conducted across all panchayats of the district, aims to educate and sensitize the public, and mobilize stakeholders to create a drug-free environment in Bandipora. Qadri laid special focus on how youth can play a proactive role in acting as ambassadors of change in society. Similar awareness programmes and IEC activities were simultaneously conducted in every block of district at panchayat level, attended by senior officers from District Administration to ensure wider outreach and grassroots involvement. |
