Yatra progressing smoothly, devotees have darshan of Chharri-Mubarak

Srinagar, Aug 09: Yatra is progressing smoothlty as fresh batches of yatris left Nunwan Pahalgam and Baltal early this morning for Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, where over 2.18 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance so far since the commencement of the 48-day-long pilgrimage from July 2. However, the number of pilgrims has dropped now from both tracks, a yatra official told .
Devotees, particularly security forces and employees working in central government offices, are visiting Amreshwar temple, Deshnami Akhara, near here to have the glimpse of " Chhari Mubarak", holy silver Mace of Lord Shiva which has been kept there for darshan. A small group of yatris paid obeisance at the cave shrine this morning after night halt at Panjtarni.
He said a fresh batch of pilgrims left Baltal base camp early this morning for the cave shrine. The pilgrims will have to cover the hilly distance on foot and are likely to reach the cave shrine this afternoon to pay obiesance. Pilgrims, who had night halt at cave shrine after paying the obeisance have also left for Baltal base camp. Similarly, a fresh batch of pilgrims left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp early this morning for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route.
Pilgrims, who had night halt at Chandanwari and other halting stations on this tradtional route have also started their onward journey to the holy cave this morning. He said 391 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, paid obeisance at the cave shrine yesterday. With this, a total of 2,18,319 pilgrims had darshan at the cave shrine. Majority of the pilgrims have since returned to their homes.
