RAJOURI, Aug 9: The ironical misconception on the educational front in district Rajouri has thrown up certain significant issues that have given educational set up in the district a very bad name.
In Sunderbani at zone lower Hatthal, there are nearly 12-15 private schools which are running illegally that bye-pass the education norms and strictures of the district thus depriving the students' government facilities as these private institutions claim to be advanced in providing the holistic studies.
Already there is a great misconception amongst the students and parents in Jammu and Kashmir that the private institutions are well equipped to provide the noteworthy education to their wards whereas the government schools lag behind.
The reasons though are true and manifold, but on this pretext how the parents and the students are misguided into the honey traps of the private educations is quite astonishing.
A parent speaking to Early Times said that their son would get better quality education in the private school rather than pushing him in the government school where the studies are taken leisurely that take toll on the grooming and education of their child ,
Bimla Devi Zonal education Officer when contacted by this reporter to look into the matter of hijacking of the students by the private institutions gave a very astonishing reply.
She said as the head in the area she had conducted a survey in the area and found almost all schools falling behind the norms and the teachers in the schools are pursuing private tuitions to the students to mint money from them.
"I had even reported to the Director School Education Jammu about the felony being committed by the private schools in the area , but to my astonishment , no action was taken from the higher authorities in Jammu," said Bimla Devi
The ZEO further said that she wanted a direction from the state government, particularly the education department with a free hand to tackle the situation in the Rajouri regarding private schools which are upto class fifth only.
It is pertinent to mention that during the recent rains in the region, one of the roof top of a private school Devak Academy caved in.
"Had the students been in the school there would have been casualties and no authority would have taken the responsibility," said Bimla Devi.
The ZEO has requested the education department as well government to look into the matter and bring the illegal functioning of the private schools in Sunderbani into the books.
